So it turns out that moving cross-country, going for over a month without reliable internet access, and generally changing one's entire lifestyle is not entirely conducive to frequent blogging (even if those changes are the focus of said blog). However, I have finally brushed the dust off my laptop and have resolved to start recording some bits and pieces from this new life our family is building.
First - a few updates:
Munchkin - Munchkin is enrolled in The Learning Collective, a part-time (3 days a week) "school" for homeschoolers and is loving every moment of it. I will be sharing more about this wonderful learning community soon and am also working on a website redesign for them to unveil in the near future :-). We are doing a lot of theme based skill review at home as well, loosely following the first grade Common Core Curriculum. He is still loving Legos, Star Wars, and Angry Birds and wants to be a Paleontologist.
Monkey - Monkey is home full time with Mommy. He continues to be a ball of energy and excels in all things fine and gross motor. He loves to color (anything and everything...) and is currently focused on learning to "jump!" We are starting to work on colors and shapes and are making progress on animal sounds and body parts (but only when Monkey is in the right mood...) He has also discovered Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and his big brother's LeapFrog movies (he prefers the ones with "Scout" the dog).
Medic - Matt is working 3 nights a week in an ICU float pool as well as picking up some overtime shifts (surprise surprise ;-)) Along with all of us, he is enjoying a real fall for the first time ever!
Me - I am enjoying being at home but going a bit stir crazy without a project. I am beginning to connect with other like-minded moms in the area and am hoping to launch a local version of HOME Explorers (my homeschool group back in Houston) in January.
Stay tuned for pics and more!
